Swimming Pool Solar Heating

One of the best ways to heat your swimming pool is solar heating. Many companies will try to convince you that the best way to heat your pool is electricity. After researching the available information, you will need to make a choice whether electric or solar heating for swimming pools will best suit your needs based on the different costs involved for both.

You will have different factors to consider. One is the initial cost of installation of the heating system as well as to estimate how much it will cost to heat your pool on an ongoing basis. Yes, some companies might be right about the fact that solar heating systems are more expensive than electrical heating when it comes down to the initial payment for installation. But, solar heating is more cost effective in the long run. This is because with the use of solar heating for swimming pools, you will never need any electricity for heating it on an ongoing basis in the future. Whereas with electrical heating, yes it is cheaper than solar heating up front, but you will need to pay a large electricity bill at the end of each month in use as you will need to use quite a bit of electricity to heat such a large body of water.

Let's compare this to your conventional geyser for a moment. If you are going to take a hot shower, you need to wait for the geyser to fill up and then wait for the geyser to heat up. All the while this process is using up electricity. The same principle applies to the heating of your pool water. The only difference being that your pool holds tons more water than your conventional geyser. With your geyser, you might be able to take two showers back-to-back, if you are lucky. But with your pool, it is comparable to taking around 25 - 30 showers. So, imagine how long it will take to heat up an average sized swimming pool and how that can affect your electricity bill. It will take a long time and it will take a lot of electricity. With solar heating for swimming pools, once you invest in the installation, you do not need to pay any sort of electricity in the future. The ongoing heating of the pool is essentially free.

Would you rather pay a high electricity bill every month you heat the pool for years to come or pay a bit more for the installation of a system, then heat the pool for free for years to come? I think the latter option is quite attractive to many people, even though the initial payment is a bit more.

Many people do not understand how solar heating works at night. The way it works is very simple. Throughout the day, your solar panels will be absorbing the heat from the sun and storing it in a cell or, what people refer to as, a battery. During the entire length of the day, the battery will be filling up and storing heat. So, if you need to heat your pool at night, you can use the stored power in the cell. If, however, you feel the need to heat the pool in the daytime, you will not need to use the stored energy, as the system will feed power directly from the sun to the destination (the pool), all the while saving the stored electricity for another time.

Solar heating for swimming pools can be a very attractive option for many people. Make an educated decision as to what works best for you. It is nice to know that we have some good, energy saving options in today's world of technology.
